True, the conflict between Israel and Arabs started as a fight between secular Zionists and Arab Nationalists. The Hamas and Orthodox Jewish settlers came later.

Jo, there are plenty of atheists who religiously believe that God is a *cause* of war. I am just pointing out the error of this.

Most wars are stupid. The invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan was stupid and nothing to do with God.

It was caused by the unquestioning support of Israel by the US and the UK.

Bin Laden himself said so.

Only stupid people...not wars(wars being stupid is a given). Besides I would have thought you would support war, surely it's a swift culling of the less able in society, young people who couldn't get any other job. Civil war is something many of your ideas would invoke, suppression of women, ruthless treatment of the poor and needy, removing compassion, these are the consequences of public flogging, capital punishment and the like. If you inject cruelty in an otherwise moral nation what you will get is an uncomfortable line that many would find difficult to tread.

Revolution or war (foreign or civil) is inevitable if the nation is badly governed.

A revolution or a civil war is an act of national defecation or vomiting.

Not pretty, but necessary in the long run.
