Accidentally on Purpose: A One-Night Stand, My Unplanned Parenthood,

and Loving the Best Mistake I Ever Made by Mary F Pols (Penguin £7.99)

This is from The Sunday Mirror Magazine of 10 May 2009.

"I got pregnant after a one-night stand ... but it was no accident. "Gotcha pregnancies" - women aged 35 to 39 who deliberately get pregnant by having unprotected sex - are on the rise. Mary Pols, 44, talks about her experience.

"Dad asked if the man would marry me. I just hoped he wouldn't leave town.

Well, I wonder how the little bastard is doing these days.

Shall we ask her?

Please educate yourself on the actual nature of my book before putting up nasty posts about it. I did not get pregnant on purpose, nor would I have, and all you'd have to do is browse my website for a minute to know that.

My child is a beautiful, smart, kind 5 year-old, and I feel extraordinarily fortunate to have been blessed with him, by accident. His father and I live separately, but co-parent as dear friends, and do our best, every day, to give our child the most stable, happy life possible.

The nature of your book, as I can understand it without buying and reading it myself, is its title: "Accidentally ON PURPOSE: A One-Night Stand, My Unplanned Parenthood, and Loving the Best Mistake I Ever Made", which says it all.

Your message is: get pregnant using a one-night stand from a low-status jobless male with-low quality genes and fulfil yourself as mother, when you get tired working for a living.

Matt, the "babydaddy", YOUR words, sounds like he is not the brightest bulb in the box. He was described as 29, "rather clumsy conversationally, as if he were new to the flirtation game. On the way to his apartment, he confessed he didn't have a J-O-B. The fact that he needed to spell it, rather than say it, led me to believe that he would be only a fleeting presence in my life."

Sounds like he wasn't even that keen to bed you, or wasn't clever enough to know that this would be when any non-slag and slapper would back out. Maybe out of a sense of decency he was trying to tell you that a girl like you was slumming it a bit with him and should look in better places, even if it was just a one-night stand. Maybe he was just trying to see how much you were gagging for it.

I just feel sorry for your father, a Catholic. I suppose he didn't think to disown or disinherit you? I know what I would do to any daughter of mine who gets knocked up by some low-life dimwit.

So, now, to earn a bit of money, you are now writing a book telling other women that it is OK to do this, and in fact ENCOURAGING them?

Shame on you, Mary Pols, shame on you.

I'm sorry Mary but I've been covering this topic for quite a while and there is NOTHING that shows me that deliberately having (or by accident) a child out of wedlock is in the childs best interest! NOTHING!
